Stratiotes Aloides (Floating Aquatic)

Stratiotes aloides is an unusual floating aquatic perennial. Rosettes of dark green, serrated, sword-shaped foliage rise to the water’s surface in spring with the roots submerged beneath. From July, Water soldier bears white, three-petalled flowers. This British native has a spreading habit, over time forming colonies that offer excellent shelter for aquatic wildlife. Height: 15cm (6″). Spread: 100cm (39″). Planting depth: Zones 2, 3 & 4 floating on water’s surface.
