Mimulus Cardinalis (Marginal Aquatic)

The Cardinal Monkey Flower is totally different to other Mimulus. Its woody stems bear peculiar bright scarlet red flowers that appear like pinched snapdragons. Once established, Mimulus cardinalis forms spreading clumps of downy, green foliage. This striking hardy perennial thrives in moist boggy soils and the shallow margins of ponds and streams. Height and spread: 50cm (20″). Planting depth: Zones 1 & 2 to 10cm (4″) below water level.
